Confashion: I like breaking rules.
My handbag rarely ever matches my heels. I live for suede in summer. I am that person that wears tights with opened-toed sandals. And navy and black are my legit squad goals.
But, it’s time UNOde50 took home the crown for inciting my most rebellious act to date – mixing metals.
MAYDAY!
K, so this is nothing new – i get it! But for me, gold and silver together feels like the freshest update I’ve gifted to myself since long hair.
And nobody thought that would last!
But what has lasted is my heavy metal petting… the unapologetic statement is what this seasons accessory is all about non?
And I’ve decided that metal mixing is the best statement to see out the year.
Course now that I’m self proclaimed fashion alchemist du jour…
Let’s get down to business. Faux-paux-proof style hacks on how I mix metals without looking like a christmas tree mixing signals:
PICK A HERO
In my case, the UNOde50 armour obvs. It could have been just one unique piece – UNOde50 slay the cocktail ring conundrum btw – but I went for a whole squad of gold chinks to show I mean business.
I kept everything (even the buckles on my stripper sandals) silver in contrast. The cool tones of the outfit offset the warm gold tones throughout the look… which I love!

Being unashamedly confident in your metal mixing is key. Think Chloe Sevigny Last Days of Disco obvious, go for statement cuffs, double up on necklaces. This is not a game for the shy girl.
Plus I’m a sucker for contrasts so pairing a shimmery dress with a puffer coat was deliberate. More is more.
STACK YOUR RINGS RIGHT
This styling hack is something they should teach in school. Seriously the order of ring service is so important to making your hand look elegant. And slim. And well… cool.
I start by positioning my boldest ring on the index finger (obsessed with this UNOde50 tornado) and then I stack smaller styles on my middle and ring finger. I’ll switch everything up occasionally but will always have the main player on the index when there’s a stack. Trust me it always looks better this way.
And sometimes, sometimes I switch my engagement ring to my other hand… but no mixed signals I promise, only mixing metals remember!
