I’m giving my tried-and-true denim mini-skirts a break this summer and backing the Vogue approved pleated midi.
Yep, a midi-masterpiece is this summer’s coup de maitre. And this one – a score from Crew Clothing Company – I’d been lusting after ever since our first meet cute last month.
She blinded me with her precise pleats and calf-skimming swish BUT I RESISTED. Then she went on Sale and it was game over.
Vogue House always wins.
Course if if I’m to justify the army of denim now holding most of my closet to ransom, this pleated skirt (don’t worry there will be others for backup) needs to work overtime through summer.
Not that i’m here to justify my repeat visits to Crew, or force the residents of South Ken into hiding owing to J’s impressively long lens. Nope, I danced about Walton street at 8am last week to show you how deliciously cute my perfect pleated skirt really is before I shove her in the on-board wheelie and sweep her off to Barcelona.
The midi-pleats are going on a mini-break.
Barca Fashion Week kicks off Monday 27th, so J and I are heading out this weekend to explore the city hashtag show off my new skirt.
Just imagine these pleats cantering across the Nova Icaria, the fluid movement of soft crepe cascading across Platja de Sant Sebastià… I bit the bullet and bought the Rough Guide!
By day she’ll play wing-girl to umpteen white tee’s, maybe get cosy with a cropped knit. By night I’m teaming her up with my nan’s bandeau bikini circa 1950’s – think sun kissed clavicles, vintage gold jewellery and nan’s emerald green scrunch metallic boob-tube – a Patricia Field tribute if ever there was.
Perfect pleated skirt is basically underpinning my entire Barca wardrobe.
So there we have it. Playful pleats from Crew Clothing and my clavicles… summer I see you.
